Our half day courses are for one or two people. Run Tuesdays and Saturdays April to the end of October (please get in touch to find out more about available dates).

The morning half-day course starts at 9am and finishes at 12.30pm; the afternoon course runs from 1pm to 4.30pm.

Courses include light refreshments.

Suitable for children over 6 years old accompanied by an adult.

1-2 Participants

In the morning we prepare the engine, light the fire and have a general discussion on how our traction engine, Western Star, works and the safe way of driving whilst we raise steam. Having raised steam and got the feel of the controls we practice driving the Traction Engine in the Farmyard.

Lunch will be either an Engine Mans Lunch cooked on the shovel or lunch in the Chicken Shed Tea Room.

After lunch you will set off on an approx. 5 mile drive, giving you an opportunity to take the controls under supervision.

1-2 Participants

Building on from the full-day couse, the 2 day course gives you a chance to put into practice the skills learnt on the first day during a much longer road run.

After preparing the engine we’ll set out in the morning, and we’ll stop off for lunch before continuing our journey in the afternoon.
